1. Re: Black & White views where there should be color
PhotoGene47 Dec 21, 2012 11:45 AM (in response to PhotoGene47)More information. B&W Look 4 is what looks to be an Adobe preset. I tried opening a backup cataglog and it loaded in color... but quickly, all the views were given the same preset. There seems to be no way to stop it. Why is this preset being automatically applied to my views when I have not even used presets lately?

john beardsworth Dec 21, 2012 11:58 AM (in response to PhotoGene47)At some point you must have accidentally applied that preset. How many images are involved? After the step for that preset, do many of the images have other history steps? There are some ugly ways to step back with multiple images, but they're best avoided. So if your don't have many extra steps after the preset, you could just select all the images, switch on AutoSync, change all the images back to colour (V key) , then see if they look OK.

PhotoGene47 Dec 21, 2012 12:14 PM (in response to john beardsworth)John, actually I did not apply any preset. Upon opening from a backup, I watched each and every one of the images [every image in the NEF folder] being changed from color to the B&W preset as if by a ghost. For some reason, the changes are being applied automatically. I will try the V key to see if I can make the switch. Thanks for that tip.

4. Re: Black & White views where there should be color
PhotoGene47 Dec 21, 2012 1:11 PM (in response to PhotoGene47)Actually, the V key seems to restore it to a "default" state which is not what is needed. I performed the primary edits on most of the files and I do not want to start from scratch. It seems my only recourse is to go to each file and click on the former history state and then save that state. I still do not know how B&W Look 4 is being implemented but it does show up in Quick Develop after the file is converted. This is strange and puzzling.
