    no title bar wanted

    Opera Rat Level 1
How do I get a MIAW to open without a titlebar?. I saved the original movie (the one I want in the window) with the visible box unchecked for Display Properties but it has a title bar, close box and all, even a border around the movie.

When you create the window, which type paramter are you using.

0-Movable, sizable window without zoom box

1-Alert box or modal dialog box

          2-Plain box, no title bar

3-Plain box with shadow, no title bar

4-Movable window without size box or zoom box

          5-Movable modal dialog box

          8-Standard document window

          12-Zoomable, nonresizable window

          16-Rounded-corner window

49-Floating palette, during authoring (in Macintosh projectors, the
value 49 specifies a stationary window)

          begin 666 bullet.gif
          M1TE&.#EA" `(`*(``/___\?'QU]?7P\/#P```````````````"P`````" `(
          8```#$@BZW"Q#/$*E&I2,);)5T.<`"0`[
          `
          end

I'm only familiar with types like #document

            window("xxx").type = #tool

So where and how would I use these numbers in your response?

Opera Rat, it sounds as if you are working with Director MX 2004 and that Dave C is working with an earlier version. At http://nonlinear.openspark.com/tips/other/WindowTypes/, you can see how to convert from the pre-MX2004 windowType numbers to the MX-2004 .titlebarOptions and .appearanceOptions property lists.

              You could try setting...

              window("MIAW").titlebarOptions.visible = FALSE

I use an older version (8.5) of Director and there is no 'type' property for
windows that I know of. There is 'windowType' and you set it the same way. I
am not sure about later versions.

                window("xxx").windowtype = 4

Just curious, can you still set the windowType property in MX- 2004?

The site http://nonlinear.openspark.com/tips/other/WindowTypes/ shows exactly what I want windowtype=2. But that windowtype doesn't work for mx2004. Here is what I did. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

In my message window I have:
                    window().new("fugueNew1").open()
                    window("fugueNew1").titlebarOptions.visible = FALSE
                    trace(window("fugueNew1").titlebarOptions)

And the window opens with a title bar and buttons and the message window tells me everything is set to 0. I must be overlooking something so simple, like when I couldn't get my variable to display (because I had the script in the frame before a marker that the timeline jumped to). Please help me see my stupidty.

This is in the help section.
"The movie object property scriptExecutionStyle is set to a value of 10 by default, and windowType is deprecated by default in favor of the appearanceOptions and titlebarOptions property lists. If scriptExecutionStyle is set to a value of 9, windowType is fully functional. "
                      So I typed scriptExecutionStyle=9
                      window("fugueNew1").windowtype=4

                      and NOTHING
Nothing is working for me today. I walked a mile to an office supply store only to find out it went out of business.

                        And the mystery reveals itself...

When I use play in director, my MIAW has a titlebar. BUT when I view it in a projector - no titlebar!

                          ANSWER :

click outside the stage & then in the property inspector ,click the "Display Templates " tab in the titlebar options ,choose the options you want to show . ( && in the tab ( at the top ) in the title option you can get it a title) .
