    Album in editor

While in 11 editor, is there any way to place/save a photo in an organizer album?  I've searched pull downs...have I overlooked something?

You can create an album from open files by clicking the four-lined square at the far right of the tool options:

Good to know, but was looking for a way to place an edited photo into an existing album not create a new album.

Moving a file into an album is an organizing task : that's the job of the Organizer. In a normal workflow you start from the organizer, select a photo to edit. When you close the picture in the editor after the editing session, you return to the Organizer. The thumbnail is still selected. Just move it to the right album.

An album is not like a folder location where you choose to save a photo. It's an organizing property just like stacks, version sets or categories. That info is only kept in the catalog (the database). You can't see or work with albums outside of the catalog in the organizer.

Well, actually, if you don't use organizer you can still create albums in the project bin--albums that have no existence outside of that menu, but there's no easy way to add another photo to them without opening all the images in the album as well as the new photo and then recreating the album again.

Very interesting, I did not suspect such a possibility.

The fact is you can switch between an organizer album and the content of the photo bin easily.

For the fun of it, I'll detail your instructions :

Suppose you have created an album (from the organizer or a save of the photobin) and you want to add an open image to it.

You choose the option to load the existing album, select all its photos and open them in the editor together with the picture to add to the album.

Then you switch to the option to show open documents (on top of the album choice menu in the top left part of the bin)

You save the photo bin as an album, giving it the same name as before.

A dialog ask you if you want to 'add'. You do.

That's it, you have added a file in an album from the editor.

                  Why make it simple...
