Moving this to the Premiere Elements forum. Not many of us here in the PSE forum use PRE.
Is that D drive a separate, physical drive... or a partition on the C drive?
If that IS a partition... read http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708
Also, I have read that PreElements requires you to have Quicktime installed
Thanks for your response. The D: drive is a separate physical drive with 47GB free. It's not a partition of the C: drive. Yes, Quicktime is also installed and it works as expected.
What happens if you use Get Media to import the clip to your project?
(You can't add a clip directly from the Elements Organizer's Media Browser to your timeline.)
Thanks for your reply. I'm not using Organizer. These are the steps I'm taking.
a. Get Media
b. File and Folders
c. Highlight the video files (123456.MTS, 123457.MTS, etc.)
d. Click open
e. Thumbnails of each video clip appears. The thumbnail has a purple triangle in the lower right corner with a white "P."
f. I can not drag and drop the thumbnails to the timeline or sceneline.
If you're seeing a purple triangle with a P in it over the clips, then you are in the Organizer Media panel. You need to click on the Project button under the Organize tab to see the clips that are actually in your project.
You should be able to drag the clips from the Project panel to your timeline.
Hmm. That doesn't work either. In Project, I see columns for Name, Used, Media Type, Frame Rate, Media Duration, etc. I can click on one or several of the files to highlight it/them, but drag and drop doesn't work. I've tried an uninstall/reinstall of Premiere Elements, but that hasn't worked either. That's why I was initially leaning toward user error, but after trial and error, error, error, I beginning to think a file or setting is corrupt.
"Fixed." I uninstalled v9, installed v11, and the drag and drop works.
You shouldn't need to do that -- but, if it worked, that's all that matters!
