1. Re: WinHelp, Windows 8 and Ultrabook - macros not working
Peter Grainge Jan 2, 2013 1:18 AM (in response to David Hurlston)There's another factor not in your calculations, RoboHelp 9. Not supported as far as I know on Windows 8.
RoboHelp 10 was released before Windows 8 so Adobe could only test it against a beta version. Some issues have been seen with that so the chances of RoboHelp for Word working on Windows 8 without some issues are slim.

On rereading this, I am not sure I follow.
You say "I have updated a machine to Windows 8, performed the Knowledgebase article items and our products work fine."
So on your machine it is OK but not on that of a user who has an Ultrabook, is that the case? If so, I'm not sure how to help as it is machine specific. Are you 100% sure they downloaded the right viewer and installed it with admin rights?

4. Re: WinHelp, Windows 8 and Ultrabook - macros not working
David Hurlston Jan 2, 2013 6:47 PM (in response to Peter Grainge)Hello Peter,
We are not developing on Win 8 - just have a user running on Win 8
The user has done everything right according to the KB articles, including the updated one you referred to - so you are right, it appears to be machine specific and I am hoping some other poor soul has this combination of Win 8, WH2000 and Ultrabook.
The chances are slim I know....

5. Re: WinHelp, Windows 8 and Ultrabook - macros not working
David Hurlston Jan 14, 2013 12:06 PM (in response to David Hurlston)A contact I have within Microsoft has tested our product on his Windows 8 machine and sees the same macros problem as the user, so it seems that the Ultrabook is not the culprit after all.
He willl take it up with the Windows Help team at Microsoft and I will post the outcome.
