Cheers that's what I was looking for didn't know I had to go through creative cloud. Installed now.
Hi Darrell. This edge widget places an htm file. Is there a way to get it to place the edge content itself. Is there any good documentation or vids I need to be looking at?
Not sure what you mean by 'widget'?
If you updated Dw to the latest from Creative Cloud you get a new menu command option: Insert > Media > Edge Animation then locate from the published target directory the .oam file.
But before you do that, your Edge Animation has to be published as an .oam file. From Edge, open your project file, go to File > Publish Settings > tick and enable Animate Deployment Package (take note of the target directory the .oam file will be saved there); then click Publish.
I own cs6 master collection. So am I just left out in the woods on this? While I know the currently EDGE is still a free preview, is there a way to do this manualy for us folks who prefer to own the software we depend on ?
hi darell sorry widget was not the term to use, I was using the media option on the insert panel. Ok so whatever publish settings go out from ea is what your going to get in to dm then? That would anwswer my question, not sure if that's what's happening though. I need to play more with it.
I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've seen the object tag for edge content.
<object id="EdgeID" name="EdgeID" type="text/html" width = "962" height ="435" data ="edgeanimate_assets/nwaslideshow/Assets/nwaslideshow.html" >
Also one great thing is the assets are uploading with the page now so that was half the battle I was having.
Indeed it is a little different, but the object tag should take care of everything ('house') what was done in Edge. Though changes made to the original project, will have to be updated/re-inserted (.oam) from within Dw.
Its better than having to manually reapply snippets from an existing edge project into areas of the Dw html file.
I'm having problems figuring this out.
I thought once I had the edge Edge animate compostion in dream weaver i wouldn't have to worry about the embed proccess.
But I still don't understand how the object tag is handling these edge "compostions". Like if you delete the compostion from the html file and re-insert it it will say a composition with this name allready exists. Or if you insert the animation composition into another html file on the same director you get the same message. And after you get that message the animation seems to never want to play anywhere in that directory again. Also there is nothing added to the document head when the compositon is placed on the page so i don't even know what files are linked to the page. I guess the header .js links are all in the html file that is linked through the object tag.
I was working on a html page with an edge animate compostion inserted (obeject tag). It worked for a while but after I did some updates on the page it doesn't work.
I've tried deleting all edge files on the server and re-uploading them. I've tried deleting the composition and re-inserting it loads of times. I've re-published the oam file with a different name....
It's all weird to me and frustrating when I can't get the animation to show on the page.
