I have a page design where I am using a Running Head Text Variable placed on the left and right side of the page. To accomodate some running heads that are too long to fit one line, I would like the running head to flow to as many lines as needed. But, the Running Head Text Variable actually squeezes everything on one line. Is there anyway to allow multi-lines with this situation? Or another type of text variable to use?
Variables are a single character to ID's point of view, so they can't break. The only way to make this work would be to divide the text into multiple parts that have character styles applied and use multiple variables. That's not likley to to work smoothly unless you can do it through a nested style -- style 1 through x characters, style 2 through the next y characters, and so forth, and you still risk having a line start with a space.
Well, I thought I would try something, multiple threaded frames for the text variable... and no luck. "A single character" for variables is absolutely the reason this can not be done. Thanks for your input Peter.
