I was wondering if it is possible in InDesign to find and replace a word in the document automatically.
I have multiple indesign templates where the data gets automatically imported from a XML file (xml is for multiple indesign templates). In one of the templates that the XML file gets imported one word, "top" has to be replaced by "down".
I was wondering if there is a way to do this automatically when indesign opens the template and loads the XML the imidiatly finds and replaces a word.
I'm using Indesign cs6 Windows 7
thanks you for any help
I don't think so, at least not without a script that might be attachable to the place command in some way. In theory an autocorrect entry might be a path to doing it, but as far as I know autocorrect only works when you type.
Is there a reason not to just run a find/change for "top" and replace with "down" after the import?
Yes I was looking into maybe writing a script to make this automatic. Because alle the InDesign files are on a remote server, it's best to let everything work automaticaly instead of doing this (almost) every day.
Thank you for the reply.
