you sayd 8 separate forms, you meant 8 separate forms controlls? like text boxes?
I guess it would be 1-8 components.
Each would have form fields for first name, last name, gender and age
How about using an editable DataGrid instead of creating components?
If you know the number of children, build an empty dataProvider with that many items.
It is easy to loop over a dataProvider to validate the values.
For that matter, you could build the dataProvider, then use a Repeater to instantiate the input controls.
I'll give that a try tomorrow.

The dataProvider is an ArrayCollection
When the use changes the number in the slider, I just add or delete from that.
Perhaps that is totally goofy and inefficient?
No, that is fine. List can be very efficient. If you have any performance issues, we can look into optimizing the renderer.
