Captiv8r Jan 11, 2013 8:12 AM (in response to Joanna Sciortino)Hi there
Sorry but despite repeated pleas to provide us a decompiler, Adobe has never offered the option. There is simply no way to take an output file and convert it back to a source file.
Hence the value of backups! You make backups of the source so that you can get "back up" and operating easily!
I understand there is a cache that may allow you to rebuild a project, but I'm thinking that likely that would only exist if you had specifically saved the project.
Cheers... Rick

Phillip Jones Jan 11, 2013 1:56 PM (in response to Joanna Sciortino)IF you were on a Mac and had setup Time Machine you would have had a Backup yu could fall back on. Youwuld just go back in time a few hours or few days befor and retreived the the file.

Joanna Sciortino Jan 11, 2013 5:43 PM (in response to Phillip Jones)That is why I should have invested in a Mac instead, but did not do that either.
Thank you!

Phillip Jones Jan 11, 2013 9:08 PM (in response to Joanna Sciortino)Sorry for the bad spelling. The Mac has a built in spell checker while as you type. But doesn't work in the forum and the checker in this forum is not capable of adding words. So I usually forget to turn on spell check.
I think you can set up something similar but you have to download software to do it.

7. Re: Changing a zipped file back to a cptx file
www.cpguru.com Jan 14, 2013 2:10 AM (in response to Joanna Sciortino)If you haven't deleted your Adobe Captivate cache files then you may be able to recreate the .cptx file from those.
See how to do that here: http://www.cpguru.com/recovering-corrupt-adobe-captivate-projects/
Also - on a different note. In the Captivate preferences you can enable the "Generate Project Backup" option, which automatically generates a backup file everytime you save your project. This way even if you delete the original file you still have the backup file.
Finally - you don't need a Mac and Timemachine to keep automatic backups of your files. If you are on Windows 7 and have "System Protection" enabled then you will in many cases be able to recreate deleted files. You can read more about that here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Previous-versions-of-files-frequently-asked-qu estions
