I have tried installing Adobe Premiere Elements 9 on my MacBook Pro (with 16GB memory) and my iMac (with 4GB memory), both running Mountain Lion, but the program crashes when I start editing it. Every time it opens, there are weird colors and static on the timeline while editing. How do I prevent it from crashing and get rid of these colors?
I've run versions 10 and 11 on both Lion and Mountain Lion without a hitch.
I can't vouch for version 9 -- but I can't imagine you're having problems or why. Version 9 worked flawlessly for me on Snow Leopard and Lion.
Is it crashing before you add media to? If so, you probably should troubleshoot things with Adobe Tech Support.
If it's crashing after you add video files, then it might well be source video you're working with. Until version 11, Premiere Elements was pretty limited to worker with camcorder video. Video from phones or other non-camcorder footage was a bit more iffy.
What of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it?
I don't do Mac, but what you describe MAY be a graphics adapter driver that needs to be updated (at least, that is true in the Windows world)
