1. Re: Can an image be uploaded into a fillable pdf?
George_Johnson Jan 17, 2013 10:57 AM (in response to Dmscm)Does it need to work with Adobe Reader, as opposed to Acrobat? If it neds to work with Reader, is there any way that you can mandate that users use Reader 11?

Dmscm Jan 17, 2013 11:49 AM (in response to George_Johnson)Yes it would need to work with reader but we could tell them they need to use Reader 11.

George_Johnson Jan 17, 2013 12:19 PM (in response to Dmscm)OK, there is a method that you can use to import an image into a form with Reader 11, but it has to first be converted to PDF, which is relatively easy to do these days. It involves using a simple JavaScript as discussed here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4943623
That's really just the minimum and you would typically add additional code to detect what PDF viewer is being used and warn the user if it's not sufficent.
Here's another thread with more discussion: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/743823
The alternative is to create an XFA form in LiveCycle Deisgner, which allows an image field that can be used to import a JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or GIF. It will work with previous versions of Reader. LiveCycle Designer came with the Windows version of Acrobat Pro prior to Acrobat 11, but is a separate product now.
