Edge Animate requires port 54321 in order to Preview in Browser. If you have any port-blocking or anti-virus software that may be blocking that port number, then you should unblock it.
Thanks for getting in contact, this issue has really been driving me mad, Ive done all sorts with the anit-virus (AVG Free) I have installed as well as my extra ZoneAlarm firewall. Disablled them all and ran the programm and it still wouldnt pass that error message, Ive also added the programm to all execption lists to ensure that it is allowed access.
I should also add that I am currently running my internet through a university network, so other than controlling my own firewall I cant forward the ports to my computer. Is there an offline mode at all as all I wish to do is to create animations then upload the page and content to my own mapped file storage for the website.
Not sure what to do
Thanks again for replying to my message
Andrew, do you get this message immediately after launching Edge Animate by double-clicking on the shortcut?
Or does this error come up after you try to create a new (or open an existing) animation?
Also, do you have a local web server running on your computer?
e.g., Apache, WAMP, XAMPP, etc.
When you have Edge Animate open, and that error is showing up, try this:
1. Open a web browser.
2. Go to: http://localhost:54321/current.html
3. What happens?
My guess is that either ZoneAlarm is being a bit overzealous and preventing Edge Animate from accessing the necessary port(s), or the port is legitimately in use by something else on your system.
Have you tried uninstalling ZoneAlarm, at least temporarily?
The last time I used ZA, you couldn't truly "turn it off" without removing it completely from the system.
Also, can you try rebooting your machine to see if it clears up the problem?
I get this message no matter how I click on the shortcut or going into the system drive itself, I haven’t actually been able to make any animations yet which as you can imagine is a little annoying.
I did have a local web server running on my computer but I have recently uninstalled it as I only required it for a module I am doing at University being a computer science student, I have ensured that any traces of it have been deleted.
Have just tried opening whilst ZoneAlarm is uninstalled but I still get this same error. I must add that I have restarted my computer to clear the cache, but unfortunately it still doesn’t seem to work.
Is there maybe an offline mode that doesn’t require port access that I can activate somehow. And just for the record I am running Windows 8, and have tried running it in windows 7 mode but still get the same error.
Thanks for your response, hopefully we can find a solution so that if anyone else gets this problem it can be dealt with quickly
Thanks again -
I have been having the same issue for several months, and nothing has been able to resolve this. I am using a 2012 Macbook Pro on a private network. In the past, I have contacted Adobe support, and they had me run several tests to be sure the port is open, which it is. I have no custom security software, and I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling dozens of times. I realize Adobe is shortly releasing its replacement, Adobe Animate CC, but I have a class with due dates prior to that release, so Edge Animate is my only option right now. Is there any fix available? At least to get me through a few months?
Hello there Andrew:
I had the same problem here so i decided to run as administrator and it worked...
Hope it works for you
