Curt Y Jan 24, 2013 5:13 PM (in response to camerashygirltx)That does not make any sense to me. Look closely at what camera is set to take. RAW, or RAW + Jpeg, or just jpeg.
If you look at the image in Bridge what is the extension? Cr2 or jpeg?

camerashygirltx Jan 24, 2013 7:31 PM (in response to Curt Y)I am taking the the images in RAW but when I open them in Bridge they are somehow converted to jpg. The extension is jpg., the setting on my Canon Digital Rebel xsi is the L setting, which is RAW

camerashygirltx Jan 24, 2013 7:35 PM (in response to Curt Y)thanks for any info though. Have spent the whole day working on this. I am taking a class with someone that finally knows something of photography. It would be a shame not to figure this out.

Curt Y Jan 24, 2013 7:36 PM (in response to camerashygirltx)Bridge will not change the format unless you direct it to in the image processor.
Dive a little deeper into the manual. L may be the Large Jpeg setting. It will shoot raw. Do a few test shots with the different settings until you get the cr2 extension.

camerashygirltx Jan 24, 2013 7:45 PM (in response to Curt Y)Sorry have already done this. The problem I think might be with Windows. Of course through life events. I do not have the original software from Canon. Maybe this instructor will know, but he shoots with Nikon. This is a Photoshop II class. I have been trying to learn at this level for years only to get stuck at the first turn.

camerashygirltx Jan 24, 2013 7:53 PM (in response to camerashygirltx)The problem it turns out is my eyes even with my glasses. I did not see the setting correctly. Now it should be fine, when I get over feeling so dumb. Thanks a million.
