I did not have this sort of problem with CS6 6.0.1. and working with AVCHD from a Panasonic Lumix GH-1 camera.
The current problems involve a Sony HDR-SR11 AVCHD set of files.
Have had Premiere crash just by moving windows around.
As far as I can tell, the Nvidia CUDA drivers are up to date.
Imported same files in to CS5... works with no crashes, albeit with poor AVCHD playback performance...
Would like to have an Adobe response on this sort of thing.
