I'm always trying to get the most out of my old xw8200. It's maxed out with great Xeon 3.2 GHz processors and 16 gigs of ram. My current Nvidia card is a GTX 470 that's a couple of years old. My question is, what GeForce card will squeeze the most performance out of this old workstation?
I have some notes at http://www.pacifier.com/~jtsmith/GPU.HTM
You want to look at number of CUDA cores and memory bandwidth AND the power draw... since your HP is very likely to have a "not very large" power supply
Thanks, John. I'd have to say that the GTX 660ti looks like the clear winner for price point, CUDA cores and power consumption. I'm quite excited to find a card with triple the CUDA cores of my 470 and has a lower power requirement by 100 watts. I'm hoping this will improve real-time playback of AVCHD 1080p video from my Canon 7D. I'd be happy just to be able to go from 1/4 resolution to 1/2 without any color correction.
