Depends on the type of camera.
Capture is done by firewire only for camera's with tape.
If its a solid state camera, copy card to hdd and import.
There are several special capture cards around, but that will depend on your needs.

Computer does not necessarily need firewire, all depends on the camera.
SDI an HD are two different concepts.
You probably mean SD (standard definition)

No. You will just Copy over the full folder structure (not just the media files), to your HDD, and then Import the media files from the HDD.
