You have to be sure to embed the characters. I don't have PM, so you may have to investigate yourself. You should also be able to print to the Adobe PDF printer. I am not familiar with the tradeoffs of the PM export and the print option (since I do not have PM). You may have to also tell it to use any characters sent to the PS file and not restrict the use to system fonts only.
What font are you using? Is it trutype, postscript or open type? As many details as you can come up with will help
Pagemaker's support for fonts is limited to the first 256 characters of a font, and should not work with open type fonts. Win 7 may be displaying some of these fonts, but will be unable to output them. This is one of the many reasons we don't reccomend running pagemaker on windows 7.
Which version of windows?
Remember PM can only see the first 255 glyphs of a font.
Time to move on to InDesign.
