Change Tool pane to floating palettes (or even menus)?

I'm not a huge fan of the "radical" user interface in Acrobat 10, with all the former menu items now in a big pane on the right hand side of the main window. Is there any way to detatch them into their own floating palettes, like some of the other Creative Suite apps? Or even a preference to have things in menus again?

It just takes a big chunk out of my screen.

The only alternative I've found is to create Quick Tools for as many things as I think I need, but that's not perfect as I still don't find the icons terrible evocative. I'm on OS X.

I'm not quite sure if this is the right forum. There doesn't seem to be a "General" forum. I posted this in installation, too.

(For something named Creative Suite, the UI experience across each product varies considerably! But I digress.)

No, it's not possible. Acrobat 11 is abut more flexible with the ability to create tool sets that you can create and load at will, as well as a detachable Comments list.

Thanks. I suspected as much. I've put it a feedback request for the revolutionary UI feature of "commands in menus". It might get phased in by 2020.

Actually, it is possible, to some extent. One way of doing it is to use a script to create your own customized menu of the commands you most use.
This menu can be associated with a button located on the tool-bar so in effect you could access all of these tools without actually opening the Tools panel. I'm working on developing such a script, as a matter of fact, so if you're interested in it, contact me privately (by PM or at try6767[at]gmail.com).
