My Mac is a 2.93 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon, 8GB RAM.
So what result are you experiencing exactly? Just a crash with no output?
If you had to output each page individually—or at least in chunks smaller than 68 pages—you could possibly reassemble the whole thing in Preview… Otherwise, I tend to favor the native Mac option for creating PDFs, which would probably mean using a Print dialog—perhaps from within Preview or a web browser, if your file can be viewed in either of those. Then again, I don't know whether printing will preserve the interactivity.
Here's a partial Crash output, let me know if more would help:

I cannot do the Mac > Print > PDF method because:
1) FW is broken and can only print one page at a time (inc. PDFs) despite selecting the Print 'Pages: All' radio button.
2) The file is an interactive one, many hotspots.
Pls recall this was working fine — with the usual FW half-dozen crashes a day — for months before yesterday.
Kicking and screaming... and now posting... I dare not call Support... They'll just say reinstall everything without giving me any potential fixes...
Sorry, I have no ability to read or understand a crash report. (When I asked about output, I meant PDF output.) And I really don't know what to suggest. You're not the first to experience a crash upon exporting a PDF, though. You might take a look at these forum threads, and see if they give you any ideas:
Actually, I would also suggest exporting Select Pages as a PDF instead of All. (Select maybe the first 10 pages.) If that doesn't work, then make a copy of the FW document using Save As and delete a bunch of pages—again, maybe just leave the first 10 pages—and try exporting that abridged version. The idea is that maybe your file is just too large for Fireworks' PDF Export capabilities.
Thanks for your suggestions, but as the whole document is a whole app UI, I can't really break it up without having to redo all the hotspots. Though I am curious as to whether that would work... But it was the same length before for weeks and was ok...
(I know it's a bit late to reply to this )
I bumped into this thread as I was also experiencing the same issue.
Searched the web for any possible solutions but no success.
Subsequently, I fell back on my own and tried to solve it....and Voila I found the solution.
The culprit was a garbage hyperlink which I had assigned to a hotspot. Fixing that solved the Export to PDF issue.
Hope it works for everybody else.
