Link PSE 10 and Lightroom 4

    bikefranco

I cannot hand over photos from Lightroom 4 to PSE10 to process there further (Mac). Tried almost everything (with formats...) but they will not show up in PSE. No problem loading photos directly from database, though. Any idea? Thanks.

Make sure your extternal editing is set up correctly and links to the application in Support Files. See image below.

Thanks for your hints. Unfortunately, both points are ok, still not working.

            Best, bikefranco

Works OK for me; how are you opening the files. You normally make the round trip from Lightroom as follows:

              1) Ctrl+E in the Library to export selected image with develop settings (I choose PSD)

              2) Edit in Elements; then Ctrl+S to replace (overwrite) Lightroom export copy

              3) Ctrl+W to close in Elements and update Lightroom thumbnail.

                Thanks again.

The problem lies between your steps 1 and 2:

I select the respective photo in Lightroom,

chose "process in…. Photoshop Elements 10",

                select the option "Process copy…",

the copy gets generated (visible as a second PSD thumbnail in Lightroom),

                PSE window opens up

                but the window remains blank.

I am using "PSD, Adobe RGB and 8 bit" currently as defaults (as I think that are the least "challenging"  settings) but tried also everything else that came to my mind - no success so far.

                Kind regards from Munich,

                bikefranco

                And it seems to be

Have you also installed Photoshop (Creative Suite) or used the PSE11 trial at some point?

Go to Edit >> Preferences >> External Editing

Is PSE10 shown as the Primary External Editor (Cmd+E)

Or is it shown as the Additional External Editor (Cmd+Opt+E)

Try selecting a thumbnail in the library and using keyboard shortcuts.

Only PSE10, no 11 trial, no CS.

Under Preferences, CS is set automatically as Primary (cannot be changed). I added PSE10 as additional external editor with the presets I mentioned in my previous mail.

I am using toolbar/ right-click commands more than keyboard shortcuts. Will try your thumbnail advice later today as I have to run now.

                    Thanks.
