I have done a complex layout which contains various text boxes per page which are filled from a database, one record per page. When the data import is done around 400 text boxes are created, all linked together in continuous flow. Some boxes contain overset text which then flow down to the next, so I want to be able to whizz through, temporarily expanding boxes until all the text is correctly within its box (albeit the box will overlap its neighbour) and each page will therefore contain all its proper text, and then break the links so that each box keeps the text that is in it at that point. It will then be much easier to amend until it is correct, without the layout on every subsequent page reflowing. However, as far as I can see, the only way to break the links is to flow all the text back to massively overset the first box. Is there any way to do what I want within InDesign CS5.5 or is there any extension or script available to do this?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
If I understand what you are doing correctly, check into Data Merge. That will give you separate and unlinked boxes on each page.
