That sounds like a problem with your graphics card, driver, or display. Make sure that your drivers are up to date.
Do other applications, such as Photoshop, exhibit the same problem?
Are you using OpenGL within After Effects?
Pretty sure drivers are up to date, will check. Photoshop occasionally exhibits same behavior. Using Open GL with both options checked, 200MB texture memory. These maybe defaults as I am not familiar with how the settings effect the work. Thanks - Kevin

Open GL is a lost cause in AE 10.5; I'd turn it off right away, see it that helped, and THEN check the drivers.
