Apologies ahead of time for this extreme newbie type question.
I'm working with a previously created document (by someone else) and I want to move some things from that one into one I have created myself.
Need help with grouping text and graphic elements into one moveable object. I have a "background," two graphic elements, and three separate text boxes that I want to combine into one thing I can place in other documents. All of these items are on different layers on the same page. Please take me step by step through the process. I'm running CS6 Indesign. Thank you ahead of time.
Drag over all to select all. Also you can click the first object; then shift-click the other objects. Next, press ctrl+g (cmd+g, mac) to group them. Copy and paste or drag and drop into your new document.
Thanks for the reply. All the items are on different layers. Does that make a difference? If I have to move them to one layer, how do I do that? Thank you.
In fact, grouping as Mike instructed doesn't work across layers. When you follow his steps, it will automatically group the items all on one layer. So if you're grouping them anyway, that act will collect them on one layer. You don't have to do anything else.
