This makes beautiful patterns, I encourage folks to experiment. As Chad warns on his blog, it's a bit buggy in beta (we know that world well). Looking forward to the tweaks and adjustments to it. Chad's posted some of his art to Flickr.
Thanks Sami... some things I'd like to do with it might involve some modifications to the Kuler API... right now, there doesn't seem to be a way to limit the number of resuklts I want to get from a search query... this would speed up the return from queries with a rather large number of results.
I do plan on adding some additional capabilties: add elipses and squares as shape possibilties, choose total number of shapes, choose either white or black as a bg color, display the theme author name if desired, regenerate the circles using the same theme without meeding to search again, randomizing the theme chosen from the search query results (currently it only uses the first result)
I'm reluctant to allow searching by theme name or author, as I kinda of like the randomness by searching by "tag".
I checked this out and did several beautiful "rinses". Then I did screenshots, imported it into Photoshop and put them on Flickr. Visual Rinse is great fun.
Thanks for the kind words! I recently updated the functionality to add the ability to control the number of circles drawn, the background color for the application and also the themes are now randomized... search for "Blue" once and it may be one thing, search again and it will be different.
Again, thanks and enjoy!
I noticed the search results were being returned slowly so I just did some tweaking on the APIs. You will now get results returned much faster. Enjoy.
Also if you wish to reduce the number of results returned, you can set the itemsPerPage variable in the url string to a lower value:
