    HTTP session variables

I am wondering if there's a good way to keep some client side data in the HTTP session as session attributes in CQ5? I read in the forum that some said HTTP session is not recommend but why? And if it has impact on caching could someone kindly explain why? Is there anyway to make storing data in HTTP session work?

Just to add that cookie unfortunately is not our option.

      Thanks very much.

If you have a server-side state, this state will influence every response (otherwise it doesn't make sense to have a state). But this implies, that every response is generated by the server, and not by a intermediate caching layer. So a server-side state limits your ability to scale.
