Bob Levine Feb 20, 2013 11:20 AM (in response to islam.i.abbas)For a tablet? There is none.
For desktop? You need to install the DPS Desktop Tools.

abuewaida Feb 23, 2013 11:29 PM (in response to islam.i.abbas)For tablet devices that run windows operating system there is no content viewer as standalone app yet. Because the DPS service is not supported on windows OS tablets yet. On the other hand you still can view your folios on desktops and laptops that run windows OS after installing the DPS tool on Indesign cs 5 , 5.5 and cs 6.

4. Re: Adobe content viewer for windows 7 or 8
RG3PO Feb 28, 2013 1:23 PM (in response to Bob Levine)But a surface Pro is pretty much a desktop (or laptop really). If I have InDesign on my Surface Pro and have the DPS Desktop Tools installed cant I run Adobe Content Viewer just as I would on a regular desktop (Win 7)?
Will it not work at all?
Will it not work as a draggable touchscreen app, but work with the mouse?
I assume it cannot work with the touchscreen, correct?

RG3PO Feb 28, 2013 1:30 PM (in response to Bob Levine)Have you had any experience with people running the Content Viewer on the Surface Pro?
Can they use the touchscreen to move through the pages or do they have to use a mouse.

Bob Levine Feb 28, 2013 1:31 PM (in response to RG3PO)I haven't heard of anyone trying to install Creative Suite onto a Surface.

Neil Enns - Adobe Feb 28, 2013 7:14 PM (in response to Bob Levine)You can run Adobe Content Viewer on the Sufrace Pro, but we haven't done any work to explicitly make it work with touch. It might Just Work since the content viewer on the desktop is the same as the AIR app we ship on Android, and the gestures may magically work.
I should try this tomorrow on the Surface Pro we have floating around...

RG3PO Feb 28, 2013 7:34 PM (in response to Neil Enns - Adobe)Great to hear your feedback.
BTW, Bob Levine - You can defintley run Adobe CS6 apps on the surface, and quite well. Now I'm not so sure it would be your most robust Photoshop or Premiere machine but it does well with others.
One minus is there is no pen pressure sensitivity in PShop or Illustrator even though the pen has pressure sensitivity for othe applications. This doesn't affect me at all, but I would certaily likke to see it.

Were you ever able to give the Adobe Content Viewer a try on the Surface?

1screenname2many Mar 11, 2013 3:43 PM (in response to Neil Enns - Adobe)I would love to test this, how exactly were you thinking of getting Adobe Content Viewer installed on the Pro? I searched on the adobe download site but it seems to just take you in circles and back to having to install InDesign. We currently publish folios for use by our salespeople on their iPads but I would love to see how this might work on a Surface Pro, or any Win 8 laptop or tablet.

14. Re: Adobe content viewer for windows 7 or 8
Bob Levine Mar 11, 2013 3:49 PM (in response to 1screenname2many)All you can do is install the Windows desktop version. No different than any other Windows install.
You'll need to install InDesign first.

1screenname2many Mar 11, 2013 3:53 PM (in response to Bob Levine)That is what I thought, well it will have to wait until there is a content viewer app then or one of our folks with an inDesign license gets a Pro to test on (other than my personal device). thanks

16. Re: Adobe content viewer for windows 7 or 8
RG3PO Mar 11, 2013 4:51 PM (in response to 1screenname2many)Well, I have the Adobe Cloud subscription which includes InDesign, so installing the Adobe Content Viewer is not a problem.
All I really want to know is if you can use touch controls to navigate in Adobe Contnet Viewer on the MS Surface. It could be unlikely but as Neil said above, it might magicly work : )
The reason I am looking at the Surface is because I thought it would be a good portfolio/presentation device to show to clients in a tablet form that could also show Flash which most tablets can't.
If it could show Adobe Content Viewer folios that I have already created for the iPad and utilize touch controls, that would be the best solution.

RG3PO Mar 11, 2013 4:53 PM (in response to 1screenname2many)Can you install a demo of InDesign and do a test?
It may be too much work but... you know. Just asking.

RG3PO Mar 18, 2013 11:16 AM (in response to Neil Enns - Adobe)Neil,
Were you ever able to give the surface pro a try with Adobe Content Viewer?
If not, do you think you will be able to in the near future and post your findings?
Thanks!

19. Re: Adobe content viewer for windows 7 or 8
Neil Enns - Adobe Mar 19, 2013 6:33 AM (in response to RG3PO)Hi, I wasn't, sorry. It's someone's personal Surface Pro and he doesn't have InDesign on it (and it wasn't at the office) so we couldn't try. I'm doubtful gestures will work.

20. Re: Adobe content viewer for windows 7 or 8
Neil Enns - Adobe Mar 19, 2013 8:32 AM (in response to Neil Enns - Adobe)Ok, I realized I could try this on my personal laptop. It's running Windows 8 and has a touch screen. Lo and behold it worked! I could swipe up and down in an article using the touch screen and it did navigate between pages correctly.

21. Re: Adobe content viewer for windows 7 or 8
RG3PO Mar 19, 2013 1:22 PM (in response to Neil Enns - Adobe)Thanks for checking back on this.
This is huge for my purposes! I wanted a machine that I could show work samples to clients—in person—that include Flash, web, print, and our iPad apps that we generate in InDesign (in the form of folios in Content Viewer).
I imagine that all the functionality is not quite there yet but am hoping that an update by year's end might remedy that.
