Are you talking about in the testing environment? Because the student won't be running in that so some things will be different.
Otherwise you will need to add a check and handle the problem ones. Check to make sure that there is something in the input field. In fact you can check to make sure it is a number or letter or whatever is appropriate.
Without knowing your code and your level of experience it is hard to say exactly how you should do this.
you can use a key listener to define any action (or lack thereof) for any key, including the enter key. but why is your swf playing when you hit the enter key?
this is normal behavior in the test environment, but not in the stand-alone flash player or a browser.
I am pretty new to Flash, so I need something a bit more specific.
first, open publish your swf and html page. next, open the html page in your web browser (if that's how your students will access the lesson). finally, test the enter key. any problem?
