I am working on a music video and have finished my end of the After Effects work (effects and such) but now need to send it to my colorist. I just got AE a few months ago after not using it for several years but don't know what to send him so he can work on it. He has the same camera footage as me and we both have CS6 but I don't know if he has all the plug ins that I do. He mentioned a folder that would have all the rendered files and would need to send MOV's but when I went to that folder, I didn't see anything of the sort. I sent him the project files for AE and Premiere but what else do I need to send?
Only your colorist is going to know what he needs you to give him. Ask him for more detail and help.
One thing to consider is using Collect Files to just give him the files necessary for the project:
Every colorist I have worked with wanted rendered files from AE. They specified the production format of the files. It ranged from ProRez 444 to PNG encoded QuickTime. The only time I have sent a colorist a project file has been where we were both working at a facility where the original source footage was on a shared network server.
