Inspect does not preview local files

    Graugans GbR Level 1

When opening a file with Chrome from the internet (e. g. www.adobe.com) I have a nice preview in my devices via Inspect, but no local file is working (e. g. file:///volumes/user/name/something.html). Either screen remains white or does not refresh. By the way, the Inspect extension in Chrome is reacting veeery slow.

I am using an iMac, iPhone 5, and the latest Inspect Versions

      Regards, Dennis

          Hi Dennis,

The devices can't reach file:/// urls because those refer to the computer file system. Edge Inspect only works with http:// urls, so to view your local content you'll need to set up a web server on it (http://www.macinstruct.com/node/112), make sure the server will serve requests from other computers, and reference the files in chrome with an http:// url.

The Edge Inspect clients will correctly translate local URLs and retrieve the files from your computer.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions,

          Mark
