Not nearly enough to go on. We need real details.
Okay, here goes:
The elements that goes missing are a mix of rectangles, bitmap graphic and text. It is also the exact same that are missing. The elements are missing both when viewed in Adobe Reader and Sumatra PDF.
Indesign version: CS6
The .pdf are exported as [High quality print]
... is there anything specific you wanted to know? My lack of info was mostly because I guesed that there could only be something like two or three possible causes.
Are these elements white with overprinting?
Is printing not allowed on these elements?
What tells you the overprint preview in InDesign and in Acrobat?
Thanks for the suggestion! To be honest, I have never really used overprint preview ... Tried it, but it didn't seem to do any difference.

Do the elements show in ID when overprint preview is turned on?
Yep, they show up when overprint is turned on (that was what I tried to express by 'didn't seem to do any difference' - sorry if that was unclear)
Are they on the document page, or master page?
They are on the document page - since it is a poster, I don't bother fiddling with the Master.
I don't get it ... I have deleting the entire content and re-creating it from scratch, but it is still the same.
Problem solved! One of the .tiff files was extremely big (11549 x 2860 px) which caused it and some other elements to dissapear from the .pdf. Thanks everyone, you guys are great! :-D
