It's a pity they are not about saving in .swf format, though.

What I would recommend, for vector image saving, is to record every user movement in XML, and save the XML in your database. One program that has done this brilliantly is the Gliffy online drawing application. It can even save a file as SVG, which is a standard XML-based file format for graphics.
