I was wondering how it would be possible to make a sihuoette of an airplane flying on cs6. This doesn't have to be too fancy and can look cartoonish and animated.

Use the pen tool to draw an airplane and make the fill black.

Import an airplane image with an alpha channel.

Draw an airplane in Illustrator and import it.

Create a black solid and then use the mask tools to create an airplane.

          Or do what I did:

Draw an airplane with a black pen on a piece of white paper, take a picture of the paper with the airplane or scan it, then import it. Set the blend mode of the layer to Multiply.

Once you have your airplane in AE animate the position or the anchor point, or make the layer 3d and add a camera and animate the camera.

See the cute little airplane quickly drawn on a sheet of paper, photographed with my iPhone and then placed over the image of the cruse ship we were on a while ago by setting the blend mode to multiply. This project screenshot has everything you need to do it yourself except the picture of the airplane and the background.

Really??? After Effects will take any footage or source material you import and allow you to animate it. Please, start with the basics by reading here.
