Still going in circles. I have been here before and tried it as
stated in my question. Followed your direction and did it again.
Clicked on "Download uninstaller for OS 10.4-10.5 and got the
following error message as I did earlier
uninstall_flash_player_osx_10.4.dmg "Failed to mount".
Sorry, I tried to copy and paste the error message and it copied the
Try skipping the uninstall step. Are you able to mount the flashplayer10_1r102_64_ub_mac.dmg file? If not, it sounds like the files are either corrupted or you're having file system issues.
Nope. It downloaded some (Zip) files but still got the error message
"failed to mount device not configured".
It sounds like you are either having a problem downloading from adobe.com, causing the files to be corrupted, or you've got something going wrong with your file system.
Try downloading the zip from my dropbox public folder to see if that makes a difference. If you are still unable to unzip the file, please try running disk utility and verify the integrity of your drive.
Ps. You're going to need to change your user name asap.
It downloaded the same folders as before. The download stops when
it's de-compressing the files and it's telling me there is a
"application" and do I want to continue??
When I answer "continue" the dialog box goes away and "I'm done".
I tried some "normal" screen names and they were all taken. The one
that worked seems perfectly appropriate considering how effective the
Adobe "tool" and it's support has been. I'll change the name when
it's no longer appropriate.
BTW, I ran "disc utility" recently and was unable to download the
Adobe files IMMEDIATELY following the utility REPEATEDLY testing and
"blessing" my drive and its files.
Have you gone into the new folder that was created after de-compressing the .zip file and double clicked the .dmg file specified?
Yep. It created two folders One Flash Player 9 and one Flash player
10. Each has a number of Zip files included with one as a DMG. I
tried both. When I double click, they "flash" but nothing happens.
No problems mounting this .dmg on my Mac. This has been downloaded hundreds of thousands, if not millions of times and this isn't a common occurrence. Do you have any problems mounting other dmg files?
I'll run disc utility (using the startup disc) and get back to you if
there's no improvement. This would certainly be much more efficient
and effective if Adobe would provide a phone number for me to talk/
work with you in real time. Don't know about other DMG files. I
haven't tried any recently.
9:25 PM here. Ran Disc Utility both from the hard drive and with the
startup disc. Verified the disc, verified and repaired disc
permissions. Ran everything multiple times to prove. Still wouldn't
mount the PDF. Found some Adobe programs in my Applications folder
including some "uninstall" programs. Ran all the "uninstall"
programs. Adobe Air and ??? Did a Finder search "Adobe". Trashed and
deleted everything. Ran disc utility on permissions and general disc
again. Downloaded from your public drop box again. This time the DMG
mounted and I was able to install the program. Haven't tried it yet.
I'll leave the screen name since the tech support circled right back
to me. Other than wasting time with some messaging and having some
fun with words, Adobe support was a total waste of time and about
For what it's worth, Thank you.
