hi thanks alot sly one, but im having problems with that. the thing is i dont have Any sort of URL or text file which is required from load(); ... and the asp coder is sending a the data as a string.. what im trying to figure out is how to load that string into the text feild.... and NOW i have an even bigger problem, as i send the parameter to locate the asp file, it refreshes the page, which i cant have happen. i used getURL("whatever.asp.); ... does anyone know if i can use something else that wont refresh the page? thanks a million
and the asp coder is sending a the data as a string..
how is the asp coder sending the data? tagged onto the back of the .swf when it loads?
yes thats how i am getting the variable passed to me
Ahh okay - if you dont' want to refresh the page, you'll need to move the variables to something you can hit. --
2) or you can split your variables to another vanilla file that only has this (when rendered)--
3) or better yet - format the incoming variables as XML.
Just dupe the file with the variables so it writes out the variables, and pull it externally using LoadVars - thats the easiest. (other than using page-refresh)
thanks alot, it ended up working
