    Dreamweaver will not launch

Dreamweaver CS5.5 would not launch this morning.  My PC is running Windows 8, 64 bit.  Spoke to customer support and they had me uninstall CS5.5, and then installed CS6 through Adobe Application Manager.  I also installed the update for CS6 that was immediately available after installation of the new version.  Still will not launch.  I read forums and cleared the configuration files.  Still no launch.  On one attempt, I got the following event description:

      Problem Event Name:APPCRASH

If anyone else is having a problem with programs failing to launch in Windows 8, I finally tracked down a fix for the problem.  Evidentially, the file mfc100U.dll, noted as the Fault Module Name above, gets corrupted.  Simple fix.  Uninstall Microsoft C++ Restributable 2010, and reinstall same directly from the Microsoft site.  After two days of messing around, it fixed not only the freezing Dreamweaver launch, but Nikon's View NX2.  Good luck
