Where is the folder you are placing the file… AI does not have a start-up scripts folder… Or at least I don't think it does… Could you post a full path and I'll see if I can match this on my mac…?
Thanks for the reply. I'm using the Windows version, but the path is C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS6\Startup Scripts. The "Startup Scripts" folder is not present, by default, so you have to manually add it under the "Adobe Illustrator CS6" folder.
On a Mac, the path is /Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS6/Startup Scripts/.
Well I never… I don't know how many times I've read them dammed guides and never noticed that… You are quite right and in my CS5 it works just fine…
#target illustrator alert( 'That\'s why you is a muppet mark… :-)' );
Thanks for trying. I've been killing myself trying to get this script to run in my service. All the while, I've been assuming that I couldn't invoke it from the command line. Um, yes I can. ...\Illustrator.exe -r pathandfilename of the script. Well, that's 36 hours of my life that I'll never get back. You know what they say about assumptions and i should know better.
Nonetheless, thanks for your help.
