There is a netLastModDate() but it has lots of limitations - it requires
that you preload or download the file successfully, and the relevant
info isn't always added to the http headers so you can't rely on it.
For Windows only, there is the Buddy Web xtra:
< http://www.mods.com.au/BudWeb/index.htm>. You could use the bwFileAge()
function and compare this number with Buddy API's baFileAge() against
the CD version - check the docs for more details.
Failing that, your best bet is an FTP xtra or server-side script
After some reflection I’m thinking an FTP xtra is the way to go (something like DirectFTP Xtra). In the long run it will just make things easier.
I have used DirectFTP for this exact same thing before. It is pretty
easy to use and for this function - finding file dates and comparing
them, then downloading if needed- it works great.
