I have a text in Word 2007 with several discretionary hyphens and non-breaking hyphens. When I import the text to InDesign through 'Place' those hypens dissapears.
What should I do to force InDesign to keep the hyphens?
You sent me in the right direction, thank you! Word doesn't treat soft hyphens correctly and that's why thes disappear in ID. To insert correct hyphen in Word: alt+0173 on the num-pad. To do a search using VBA use CharW (173).
I'll give an example.
Selection.Find.ClearFormatting Selection.Find.Replacement.ClearFormatting With Selection.Find .Text = "(industri)(vern)" .Replacement.Text = "\1" & ChrW(173) & "\2" .Forward = True .Wrap = wdFindContinue .Format = False .MatchCase = False .MatchWholeWord = False .MatchAllWordForms = False .MatchSoundsLike = False .MatchWildcards = True End With Selection.Find.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll
