1. Re: Why isn't email link not working for only one address?
George_Johnson Mar 13, 2013 1:22 PM (in response to cj_mcmillen)You should be able to select the link in Acrobat and adjust the email address it's using.

George_Johnson Mar 13, 2013 1:31 PM (in response to cj_mcmillen)I may have misunderstood what you're doing. If you are relying on Acrobat/Reader to recognize certain text as email addresses (Edit > Preferences > General > Create links from URLs), then a workaround is to create an actual link (Open a web page type) and set it to a "mailto" type:
mailto:someone@example.com

3. Re: Why isn't email link not working for only one address?
cj_mcmillen Mar 13, 2013 1:47 PM (in response to George_Johnson)Hi George,
Thanks for the input. I'll use one of your suggestions, but I was looking for a reason this was happening to only one address. I didn't want to end up cherry-picking fixes (in case it happens again elsewhere).

4. Re: Why isn't email link not working for only one address?
George_Johnson Mar 13, 2013 1:53 PM (in response to cj_mcmillen)Yes, it would be best if you could figure out why Acrobat isn't doing it correctly in the first place. Are you exporting to PDF from InDesign? It would be insteresting to see if it behaves the same with different versions (e.g., Acrobat/Reader 9 or 11).

5. Re: Why isn't email link not working for only one address?
cj_mcmillen Mar 13, 2013 1:56 PM (in response to George_Johnson)Yes, CS6. It's behaving similarly on two other PCs, too. On the other two PCs it's not recognized as a live link at all. It's Acrobat X Pro, ver. 10.1.5.

6. Re: Why isn't email link not working for only one address?
cj_mcmillen Mar 14, 2013 12:18 PM (in response to cj_mcmillen)Decided to export as interactive and that solved the problem. Shouldn't have need to have done it, but I'll take whatever works!

7. Re: Why isn't email link not working for only one address?
Bill@VT Mar 14, 2013 4:57 PM (in response to cj_mcmillen)Sometimes a space seems to sneak in after the ":". That would need to be removed and have no spaces in the link command.

8. Re: Why isn't email link not working for only one address?
cj_mcmillen Mar 15, 2013 6:49 AM (in response to Bill@VT)Were it that simple... no, that wasn't the problem.

9. Re: Why isn't email link not working for only one address?
Bill@VT Mar 15, 2013 7:24 AM (in response to cj_mcmillen)Did you figure out what the issue was, other than just finding a work around? Understanding the issue is useful for helping others.

10. Re: Why isn't email link not working for only one address?
cj_mcmillen Mar 15, 2013 7:25 AM (in response to Bill@VT)Never did, so after hours of trouble-shooting just wrote it off as a gremlin. Not enough time in the day for some things...
