Vinayak_Gupta Mar 13, 2013 7:30 PM (in response to BarbaraFEWW)Refer to the following post. You can create a Paragraph style and set the Paragraph tag in the Style options to Marquee.

BarbaraFEWW Mar 14, 2013 5:56 AM (in response to Vinayak_Gupta)Vinajak,
When I apply your answer and preview from within Muse the scroll or Marquee looks great, however, when I export as html for internet and preview - the text appears as a block instead of a long single line scroll.
The information is longer than just one screen width and when previewed within Muse the text continues on one line and repeats for as long as the page is displayed. This is the desired appearance. When exported and viewed in browser it appears as a multiple line block, not a single line. I am using Explorer 9 for a browser and Muse 4.0 Build 557.
thanks,
Barbara

morphious1964 Mar 14, 2013 1:20 PM (in response to BarbaraFEWW)I don't see how you got the text to scroll accross? That must be a flash file you added to muse right?

5. Re: Is it possible to animate type or scroll type across a page?
BarbaraFEWW Mar 14, 2013 1:31 PM (in response to morphious1964)I did as you suggested...I entered a text block and called it Marquee using the Paragraph styles. It works perfectly from inside Muse but displays in the browser as a multiple line block of text. Did you try to replicate the problem but exporting to html and using Explorer 9?

Sachin Hasija Mar 14, 2013 1:42 PM (in response to BarbaraFEWW)Hello Barbara,
I am able to reproduce the issue on Internet Explorer 8 and IE9. Thank you for reporting this.
Let me go ahead and log a Bug for same. Unfortunately we do not currently have a workaround for this.
I will post here as soon as I am able to get a workaround for you.
Apologies for inconvenience.

Sachin

7. Re: Is it possible to animate type or scroll type across a page?
BarbaraFEWW Mar 14, 2013 2:29 PM (in response to Sachin Hasija)Thank you. You may notice there are other differences in the appearance of the Muse 4.0 page posted at the businesscatalyst site mentioned above that do not exist in the pre-Muse 4.0 output that is posted at www.footloosedanceandfitness.com.
Do I need to go into the Muse 4.0 pages and make adjustments to eliminate these visual changes? For example, the curves on the Top and bottom boxes on the home page and the .png graphic background ribbon on the home page that now appears as a dark box?
thanks,
Barbara

BarbaraFEWW Mar 15, 2013 6:21 AM (in response to Sachin Hasija)Has anyone had a chance to look into my follow-up note?
I am reluctant to use Muse 4 if all instance where I have used curves will
now be messed up!
Thanks

Sachin Hasija Mar 15, 2013 7:10 AM (in response to BarbaraFEWW)Hello Barbara,
Could you please send us a screenshot to what you are referring to?
This is what I see on both the links in chrome :

http://trainingwebcom.worldsecuresystems.com/SachinFTP/2013-03-15_1938_001.png
And I am not able to see any changes except the Marquee textbox that you have entered.
Am I missing something here?

Sachin

BarbaraFEWW Mar 15, 2013 8:22 AM (in response to Sachin Hasija)I am away from that web contents right now but if you look at the business
catalyst site referenced earlier with explorer 9 you may see it- I do.

11. Re: Is it possible to animate type or scroll type across a page?
Sachin Hasija Mar 15, 2013 12:41 PM (in response to BarbaraFEWW)Hi Barbara,
Muse 4.1 update has been launched now. Could you please update to the latest version and check if you still face the issue?
If yes, please send your .muse file to us at muse-ts@adobe.com. If your file is greater than 20mb you can use something like Adobe SendNow or SendThisFile.
Please do not forget to mention link to this forum in your e-mail so that we can identify the file.

12. Re: Is it possible to animate type or scroll type across a page?
BarbaraFEWW Mar 15, 2013 3:56 PM (in response to Sachin Hasija)Thank you for continuing to pursue my solution. I posted a Muse 4.1 version
to the footloosedanceandfitness.businesscatalyst.com site. You'll see that
the problem with the curves and background image has been eliminated but
the Marquee problem for which you submitted a Bug Fix request still exists.
I plan to edit the Marquee text to a line that is only the length of one
page - in order to help this customer make her announcement. That will be
on www.footloosedanceandfitness.com, not the business catalyst site.
thanks,
Barbara

TRK Saturn Mar 17, 2013 10:14 AM (in response to BarbaraFEWW)I am having the exact same problem. It works fine in Firefox, and will display properly in I.E. if compatibility mode is turned on. If compatibility mode is not turned on in I.E. it scrolls as a block of text instead of a single line. I am using Muse 4.1, latest update.

14. Re: Is it possible to animate type or scroll type across a page?
Andrew Hushbeck Mar 18, 2013 2:33 PM (in response to TRK Saturn)Hey everyone,
First off, I want to apologize for the confusion caused here, as there was a few things that went wrong in leading to this, and I'll try to clear things up.
The marquee tag is actually supposed to be a throwback and easter egg in Muse. Much like our secret snowman, this is meant to be little secret buried away for some extra fun and isn't intended for use on real Muse sites.
The marquee is an older tag in HTML, and is usually met with some chuckles from web developers. It came from a time when things like this, and it’s often cited sibling, blink, were wild new things you could make websites do. They came before many modern widgets and functionality and were a way to show off what the web might some day be. However, because of some issues with accessibility, usability, and performance, web developers have, for a while now, opted to not use this feature of HTML. In fact, HTML has never officially supported this feature. We do our best on the Muse team to make sure our code, your exported output, will always validate to the latest standards. But this tag is one case where our output would fail to validate. In this case, because this is a partially hidden extra, we looked the other way a little bit.
That said, just like our snow, we recommend you do not use it on live websites. The marquee has some inherent issues for accessibility, performance, and browser support. Many browser vendors aren’t sold on the usefulness of the marquee tag and may stop supporting it at some point in the future. Most support for the tag has remained because some very old sites (10-15+ years) used it in ways that were crucial for use of the site. It can also cause issues for users who are using screen reading technologies, or have poor vision, as the scrolling text can be hard to read. Also, because this does not validate to the standards, it is possible there is an impact on SEO (though we haven’t looked into this enough to say for sure).
The Muse engineering team did not do a good job in communicating this to our support staff, so they saw this and recommended it. And as you stumbled across these issues, they brought them to our attention and we realized our mistakes. Also, as something that will hurt your site's accessibility, performance, cross-browser compatability, and SEO, this is something we should have either clarified better, or handled differently. Because of this confusion, the marquee option has been removed in the next major version of Muse. We want to make sure to help your sites be as great as possible, and unfortunately we cannot do that with this option.
That isn't to say you cannot get this functionality in your site, you will just have to use other methods to do so. The best, and most forward looking method for this will be to use something like Edge Animate, where you can animate your text, and use File > Place to place the .oam packaged file in Muse. Edge Animate creates forward looking, modern animations using HTML5 and the latest standards, and can be used to create this or other more complex animations.
Hopefully that clears things up a little bit. And once again, sorry for the mix up,
Andrew Hushbeck

TRK Saturn Mar 18, 2013 7:26 PM (in response to Andrew Hushbeck)It's all good. I've used Edge Animate for this before and just thought this was an easier way. Thanks for clearing it up!
