I'm trying to load adopbe flash and it keeps stopping at 50% saying that application is running, but it isn't installed on the computer and IE is closed.

something is still running ...Restart your computer and start safemode with networking (click on reboot to F8) install adobe, restart your computer again.

Use the Task Manager's Processes tab to terminate any iexplore.exe processes that may still be running in the background.
