How are you trying to update Reader? If you are downloading, where are you downloading FROM? If it's coming in an email, or you are getting an email about it, please copy/paste the email here.
What version of Reader do you have, and what version are you trying to update to?
Was reinstalling/updating fron Adobe website itself, I never install from email. It is the current version on the website.
had this current version installed on computer already, unusual functionality prompted me to attempt to reinstall/update from website.

Ok, it looks very much as if this is a false positive, a common problem with antivirus. You can ignore it, or report to AVG.
