A technical writer at our company has worked with another help development product where it gives you an option to auto-size images in the chm help file output. The image increases in size (keeping the aspect ratio) when you click it and clicking again makes it smaller. This reduces the default physical space the image takes up in the text of the topic until the user clicks it to view it full-size.
Is there a way to automatically tell Robohelp to do this with images when the chm file is generated?

Sorry, but RoboHelp doesn't offer anything remotely close to that. At least, not out of the box. It's somehing you might want to suggest to the dev team at the link below:
For now, the best you can do is to either create a smaller version of the image and insert that into the topic and link it to the full sized image, or just insert the full sized image, then scale it down and create a link that would open it at full size.
