Thanks for that joeflashTO. Seems like there should still be something in the Flash forums on it too, no?
yes, i don't think that's very helpful for flash users of as3. there are enough differences that answering flex as3 questions with flash as3 answers wouldn't be very helpful on that forum. so, i doubt that flash as3 questions would benefit much from flex as3 answers.
It does seem to fuel the misguided assumption that anyone who uses AS 3.0 will be using Flex... but really, when you get down to it, Flex and Flash are more than one thing, so it can be challenging to categorize...
Flex comprises AS 3, a component framework (mx.*), an authoring IDE (Flex Builder 2.01), and a markup language (MXML). Flash (the latest version) comprises a component framework (fl.*), and an authoring IDE (Flash CS3).
An AS 3.0 section in Flash is assumed to be dealing with AS 3.0, either on the timeline or in a class file, and the Flash v3/CS3 components.
Whereas an AS 3.0 section in Flex is assumed to be dealing with AS 3.0 in class files, plus MXML, plus the Flex components.
So there should really be two AS 3.0 sections IMHO, one for each "technology".
You listening Adobe? :)
they just might be planning to add an as3 flash section: this forum was recently renamed "actionscript 1 and 2" instead of just "flash actionscript"
