The USB3 Blackmagic hardware works provided you have the Renesis USB3 controllers. If you want the easiest solution without dealing with compatibility then go with the Studio 2 card.
So this requires a plug-in USB card? That defeats the point of this device if so. My goal was to get this USB interface so I would not eat up an internal slot. This is for Dell T7600 workstations which already have USB 3 ports.

Absolutely not, the Renesas drivers get installed automatically when you run the BMD installer.
Just install those unified drivers, plug in your USB 3.0 device and you're good to go.
At least that has been my experience with 4 different workstations over the years including my current machine which sports 2 E5-2687 W processors.
