I create a monthly magazine - usually 72-88 pages - which is created in ID as about 10 documents, combined into a book.
All works OK until I come to export the file to print. Every time I Export Book to PDF, no matter what the settings (smallest file size, High-quality Print, Pass4Press etc) it always 'hangs' at some point of the process, requiring me to force quit ID. I then have to export each document separately and then combine into one PDF in Acrobat Pro.
It used to work fine in CS4, whcih I had up until early this year. I thought it might be a corrupted placed file, but it always stops at a different page.
If you've been re-working the same file again and again for your magazine, it may have gained some file corruption. Try saving your file as IDML, and reopen in InDesign. Here's how:
Another possibility is corruption in your InDesign preferences. Try restoring your preferences. Here's how:
OK, done that. I'll see how it goes at the end of the month with the new files...
