So I had my boss buy us a Quadro K5000, we got it delivered on Friday, and so far, I haven't been able to get it to help me at all in Premiere (latest CS6 via subscription). I can't seem to get a GPU option of the Mercury available.
You need to do the nVidia/CUDA text file hack in order to get Premiere Pro to see the card. There are lots of resources available here and elsewhere that will explain what you need to do on a Mac to make it work.
After you've done that, you might also want to submit a change/feature request to Adobe so that they add the K5k to the line-up of supported cards (my bet is it's coming in an update).
I am having EXACTLY the same problem. Tried reinstalling.... 6 times. The files they reference above seem only to be on Windows machines. I can't locate the .txt pref file they are talking about on the mac system.
This can be done in mac, but it has to go through some hidden folders... I found it and have made it work.
Open a finder window, then go to the top bar, and click on the "Go" dropdown, then hold the "Alt/Option" key.
Then "Library" appears, this is a normally hidden folder in the "user" folder. So from there, you can go to the correct location. Sorry I haven't any time to help you with the exact route, but it's in one of the previous threads, i found it... once I knew about the hidden folder access that is.
I FOUND it. While looking for the files that are buried inside hidden directories without know their names it is VERY hard to find them. I did find an AMAZING tutorial with scripts you can paste right into terminal window and run.... It even came with a demo video. The guy that wrote it should be knighted.... Worked perfectly in seconds......
