Moving to the Edge forum since this is an Edge-specific issue.
Neil (not the same as the Neil above )
This should be in InDesign or DPS more specifically. I use 'Web Content' in the folio builder and link to the .HTML file then place a poster image from theimages folder. I've never had any problem with this and have never used the .oam files
I tried the HTML file, couldn't see anything on the page once it was placed, so I presumed it was 'hidden'...
Uploaded to folio so I could test it on iPad and I recieved this error message whilst uploading:
I presume the (Adobe) correct way to do this is with the .oam file as Adobe suggest in the link I posted originally...
Any Adobe staff members who can shed some light on which route I should be exploring?
Placing the .OAM file is the right way to go. If you are having trouble placing an Edge OAM file in InDesign then this, or the InDesign forum, is the right place to ask, since placing OAM files has nothing to do with DPS.
If you are having trouble uploading an article to a server in Folio Builder you should open a separate thread for that issue over in the DPS forum.
Definately want to do this the correct way, so .OAM is the route I need to find a solution for!
Have you tried going into Edge and looking at the export settings to configure how the poster image is generate? Maybe go in there and explicitly set a poster image and see if that fixes the place error?
Yes I've tried changing numerous poster images, i've also tried moving the folder location of the poster images to see if that helps, but no joy
OK, so I've made a new test animation to try and import to InDesign. It's a basic animation with an image, some text and a shape that moves...
it has imported correctly. So the issue must be with the edge animation... I have a very basic knowledge of html, so I can look into Edge and try and find out what's causing the issue...
problem is - i don't know what i'm looking for?!
any suggestions for what to look for?
Neil, just so you know I'be never been able to get .oam files working and have since last July just used the .html file for both Metro table app and Daily Mail Plus table edition without any hitches
A couple of things to take a look at:
- Do you have any warnings in the lower right hand of the stage?
- We have a known issue about publishing files with international filenames: http://helpx.adobe.com/edge-animate/kb/known-issues-edge-animate.html#id_72049
- Do you have any errors when you open the project in preview in browser? You can check by using a tool like Chrome Inspector or Firebug for Firefox: http://blogs.adobe.com/edge/2012/01/04/why-cant-it-just-work/
Hopefully this will point you in the right direction.
