    Save "AS2" file as "AS3" ?

    rc3rdmd Level 1
Can I save a converted file that is now in CS3 from Actionscript 2.0 to Actionscript 3.0?

I know half my code won't work but I need to update the files.

      Thanks.

Sure thing. Just change the Publish Settings for that FLA. (File >
          Publish Settings > Flash tab.)

Oh wow, well ... don't change it if you don't need to! Flash CS3 is
perfectly happy to edit AS2 (and even AS1 and earlier) FLAs. After you hit
Save, the FLA itself will only be editable in Flash CS3 -- unless you do a
Save As for Flash 8 -- but the *content* of the FLA can be configured for
whatever you like. If you change your FLA to ActionScript 3.0, you'll be
forced to publish for Flash Player 9. If you leave it as ActionScript 2.0,
you can publish from Flash Player 9 all the way back to Flash Player 6. If
you go with ActionScript 1.0, you can publish for Flash Player 5, and so on.

I've noticed in the forums lately that a lot of folks seem to
necessarily equate Flash CS3 with ActionScript 3.0 -- and it just ain't so.

            I understand the complexities.

<<If you change your FLA to ActionScript 3.0, you'll be forced to publish for Flash Player 9>>

How do I do this ?

            Thanks.

Go to File > Publish Settings > Flash tab, then change the "ActionScript
              version" listbox to ActionScript 3.0.

I am using CS3 and under "Actionscript version", only Actionsript 1.0 and Actionscript 2.0 are available.

Ah, you'll have to change the Flash Player version too, then -- sorry I
didn't mention that specifically. Only Flash Player 9 supports AS3, so
you'll have to change the desired version of Flash Player first, and that
will "unlock" your ability to select ActionScript 3.0 in the other listbox.
